The program initiated by the European Commission in support of research and innovation, « Horizon 2020 », is described by its creators as “the biggest research program in the world”.
The budget which will be allocated between 2014 and 2020 is around 80 billion Euros including 40% dedicated to “societal challenges”, focusing on several major points of concern defined as calls for proposals. After a thorough reading, we identified several calls which could be interesting for AREPO and its member regions within the theme “Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research and the bio economy”.
One of these calls for proposals caught our attention:
SFS-20-2015: “Sustainable food chains through public policies: EU quality policy and food purchase through public sector”
Among other points of focus, this call concerns the impact of the EU quality policy (PDO, PGI, TSG, OF etc.) on agriculture sustainability and the healthy diets promotion. AREPO aims to participate actively either as a partner or as a coordinator and wishes to build a consortium of European, national and regional actors, public and private, throughout the chain of R&I.
We believe that it is a really good opportunity for research centers, universities and SMEs to get funding for projects of research and innovation which focus on this topic.
If you wish to participate in this call for proposals, either as a partner or a coordinator, please contact Anne Clermontelle and answer to the following questionnaire : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-PTzvU-tp—i-JEbohWZAteDBmSeQG0mFT5k2-QNxU/viewform
