Invited by the European Commission, AREPO has participated with two delegates to the high-level conference in Brussels for the launching of the International Year of Family Farming, attended by many personalities and high authorities, both from EU and form third countries (Senegal, Thailand, Mongolia…).
Around the world, 400 million people work in family farms. The 43% of the world population is employed in agriculture, of which more than an half lives in emerging and developing countries. For Commissioner Cioloş, “family farming feeds the world and its productive potential is still very high”.
