On June 1st, the Commission for Natural Resources (NAT) of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) adopted by a large majority the draft opinion on the CAP after 2020, in order to participate to the debate on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy.
Mr Guillaume Cros, Vice-President of the Regional Council of Occitanie and rapporteur for the opinion, stated that “we need a fair and sustainable Common Agricultural Policy, capable to assure its own legitimacy from the point of view of its economic, social, environmental, territorial and international impact”.
The NAT Commission considers highly important to support young farmers, short food supply chains, traditional and quality products, as well as organic and local food public procurement.
The draft opinion will be adopted by the plenary session that will be held on July 12-13, 2017.
